How I Painted Fiberglass Cows for Cruze Farms in Knoxville Tn.

A cow and calf, both made of fiberglass with a coat of white primer. This is how I received them
A picture I was sent for color information.
I mix a middle color, the tint and shade from it. I opted to use brushes and a piece of foam to apply the colors. It would be easier to spray paint, but Latex paint doesn’t work so well in my spray equipment. I could use Alkyd (oil based) but then I would have to reduce the gloss and it’s much slower drying. Notice the above picture is on the laptop screen in front of the cows.
Brown shading has been added. If I only used a brush to apply it, the edges would be too stark. So I used a piece of yellow cushion foam to soften the edges.
The nose looks black, but it’s actually an off black. Straight black would be too stark and would look unatural. to soften the edges here, I mixed the off black with a clear latex product. I once read about wildlife photography; the article said that if there’s not a glint in the animal’s eye, it will be much less appealing.
